Sedation Options at Accent Family Dentistry

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is inhaled through a small mask and produces a relaxed, euphoric feeling. It wears off quickly after the mask is removed, allowing you to drive yourself home. Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication before your appointment to produce a deeper state of relaxation. You will need a driver for oral sedation appointments.

Dr. Gong will discuss the most appropriate sedation option based on your level of anxiety and the procedures planned.

Who Is a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is appropriate for patients with dental anxiety or phobia, patients with a strong gag reflex, patients who have difficulty sitting still for extended periods, patients who need multiple procedures completed in one visit, and patients with special needs. Dr. Gong will review your health history to ensure sedation is safe for you.
